Phil has been active in the health and human services field since 1986. It was then as a community volunteer that Phil was introduced to working with children with Autism. It was, also, there, that Phil witnessed that positive behavioral supports can transform a person's life and increase their quality of life. Since then, he has worked in a variety of settings. Phil's experience runs the gamut in that he has worked in youth correctional facilities, university counseling centers, federal bureaus, and government agencies, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and, more recently, in an outpatient office suite. Phil has had his own office since 2006.
Being a native Nevadan, Phil is dedicated to delivering timely service and assistance when it is needed most in the local community. This was probably most evident when Phil (along with countless volunteers and first responders) jumped in to assist visitors and locals impacted by the deadly attack of Oct 1st [2017]. #VegasStrong is more than a hashtag, it represents courage, resiliency and resourcefulness. Phil believes that is Las Vegas, as well as Nevada--additionally those are the attributes of the individuals he works with!
When Phil is not at work, he can likely be found spending time with his family and exploring the geological wonders of Nevada, Utah, or Arizona. He enjoys Mid-Century Modern Architecture, traveling, and going to the beaches of San Diego. He used to reside in West Berlin in the late 80s (10 points if you know what happened on November 9th, 1989!). He completed graduate work at the University of Utah in 1998; completing practicum work at the University Neuropsychiatric Institute (SLC) and the University of Utah Counseling Center. Phil has, over the years, worked with many companies to provide therapy services, including a handful of Fortune 500 Companies. Phil has been educated, trained and mentored over the years by professors and professionals in the field, whose education was from Harvard University, ASU, Stanford, University of California, Michigan State, Utah State, University of Kansas and the Ohio State University.
He and his associates are now busy with regional and state residential organizations and day programs, providing training to the staff and personnel on behavioral principles and helping individuals to breath, be calm, and make the best life for themselves!
